This project was born from the growing resentment of observing isolation, consumerism and helplessness in our city. We would like to live in a city that catalyzes creative power for co-creating the environment we live in, where people feel agency and responsibility to do so. We want people to feel more empowered to shape and co-create their environment by going through a process and experience of creating futures themselves. In the first phase we worked with various groups of citizens of Munich to extrapolate trends and forecasts of today into possible futures in several workshop sessions. More than 80 future scenarios and correspondent stories around diverse topics relating to the city context were created.
In the second phase, the participants created everyday objects from those futures to make them tangible and more immediate. Those artifacts lead to the third and current phase of our project, where they will be used in interventions in public spaces to irritate the broader society in the city. Through that we want to create resonance around the potential futures. The project's conclusion will be represented in a finissage to gather creators of artifacts, public and participatory city design players to catalyze subsequent projects.
