Day 05. Activating Corporate Futures
Speculative Futures & Corporate Innovation
A perfect match? How to apply speculative practices in enterprise contexts
Friday June 26, 11:00am EDT
🔌 Talk, 45 minute session
The application of speculative practices in the corporate context is a known challenge.
But how to implement and consequently scale speculative practices in organizations, that believe design thinking is still new and a progressive way of seeing the world? The strategic design team of the Lufthansa Innovation Hub - tests, adapts and creates tools & methods from futures thinking/speculative design, sense-making, design (thinking), systems thinking, strategic management etc. to see what works in the context of (corporate) innovation.
It regularly infuses speculative elements in commonly used tools such as journey mapping - creating preferred journeys - ideating with speculative changes in business model environments or working with drastically changed power dynamics between stakeholders (speculative stakeholder maps). In the talk I will share experiences, tools and approaches on how to adapt prevalent workshop formats including the role of clickbaity titles such as „What if Greta wins?“ - a highly provoking statement within the headquarters of the world’s largest aviation group.
